Chapter 117 - Laws

Not letting Yang Tian wait long, Ye Wen Tian personally went to pick him up. Before the conference began, Ye Wen Tian guided him to a small guest room and lectured him on the powers that are participating and their strength.

- This time, aside from the 3 largest powers from the Shrouded Continent - the Heavenly Mountain Sacred Peak, the Hidden Dragon Island and the Nan Gong Clan, there are also many mid to lesser powers participating. The strength of these factions isn't that great. In total there were only 30 Golden Core Cultivators and most of them are only at early stage.

- As for Earth, there's our Dark Society as well the largest 100 clans in the world. The strength of these clans isn't that great but the top 10 clans all have Golden Core Cultivator. There are Honorary Elders of our Dark Society.

Yang Tian was a but curious:

 

- Top 100 clans huh, so what rank is the Li Clan?

- The Li Clan? Their strength have dropped in recent years so they are down to 102.

- That weak?

- The other clans have several late Foundation Establishment. The Li Clan only have one person of that cultivation on the surface. Although we don't know if they had any hidden forces, it shouldn't be that much better. If not the Qin Clan and the Huang Clan would've been devoured by them long ago.

As if remembering something, Yang Tian suddenly asked Ye Wen Tian:

- Ah right, remember the assassin that tried to kill you before? I remembered that she used a special kind of poison that was created by the Dark Society, right?

Although he didn't understand why Yang Tian asked about this, Ye Wen Tian nodded and answered:

- That's right, it was truly strange. If not for you stopping me, I'd have done a complete investigation on it. That poison was the secret card of our Dark Society. Anyone that leaked its existence wouldn't have a happy ending.

- She was from Heaven Slayer so I'm guessing that poison was provided for her by them. You just said that the top clans have people who are Honorary Elder of the Dark Society. What if I say that Heaven Slayer was a secret force of some great clan and the poison was given to then by one of their Elders?

- This...

Ye Wen Tian understood the severity of the situation. If a great clan got their hands on the poison, they could easily suppressed the remaining clans. If that happened then they could secretly gain power behind the Dark Society's back. Once they succeeded, even if the Dark Society found out, they wouldn't be able to act heavy-handedly. After all, by then that clan would play a crucial role in the power balance of the world. Destroying one or two clans wasn't a problem but no one dared to destroy 10, 20 or even all 100 clans.

Seeing Ye Wen Tian lost in thought, Yang Tian said:

- This is just my conjecture, no need to worry so much. Isn't that President also coming. Just report this to him later and it'll all be good. That's right, I have another thing I need to ask you.

"Maybe that's the only way to handle this situation", Ye Wen Tian thought. He temporary pushed this to the side:

- What is it?

- If you would have to take a guess, how many Golden Core Cultivators do you think each great power has?

This was top secret but Ye Wen Tian didn't see Yang Tian as an outsider:

- As far as I know, the Dark Society have more than 80 Golden Core Cultivators on the surface acting as Division Leaders in large countries. Most smaller countries only needs a late Foundation Establishment to manage them. Of course that was only on the surface. If my estimates are correct then the Dark Society have no less than 100 Golden Core Cultivators. The other great powers wouldn't fall far behind.

- So in total, more than 600 Golden Core Cultivators. That many?

- Many?

Ye Wen Tian didn't understand why Yang Tian said that was many. The world has nearly 8 billions people. In the 8 billions, people with aptitude for cultivation was only a bit more than 1 million. Not counting the Shrouded Continent, there was only 100 Golden Core Cultivators so how could that be considered many.

- With that many Golden Core Cultivators, how could it be that after all that time, no one managed to breakthrough to Nascent Soul?

- There were.

 

Hearing Ye Wen Tian said that, Yang Tian was a bit surprised. Did the information he had up untilthis point was wrong?

- Who?

Ye Wen Tian looked at Yang Tian with confusion:

- Isn't he standing in front of me right now?

Yang Tian lightly coughed and said:

- I'm a special case. Even if I tell you about it, you wouldn't understand. Alright, go and report to that President the matter we just discussed. I want to investigate something. I'll be back later.

Ye Wen Tian looked at Yang Tian with confusion but didn't ask anything else and left.

What Yang Tian wanted to investigate had nothing to do with him but it was just motivated by his curiosity. If what Ye Wen Tian said from way back before was true, the Spiritual qi on their man-made island wasn't any inferior to that of the Shrouded Continent. That's not to mention  the people who cultivated with the lack of spiritual qi like those Golden Core from the great clans. With such low spiritual qi density, not to mention 600 Golden Core Cultivators, 100 would already be an unthinkable figure.

He hadn't even touched on the fact that with so many Golden Core Cultivators, not only had none of them reached Nascent Souls, even the President of the Dark Society had never heard of False Soul stage. Although people say that from Golden Core to Nascent Soul was large step, the reality was completely different.

From Golden Core to Nascent Soul was merely a barrier for Cultivators. As long as one reached peak Golden Core, they had the decision to breakthrough to Nascent Soul or not. After they braved the Heavenly Tribulation, if they succeed, they'd form their Nascent Soul. If not then they would be destroyed body and soul. If they were lucky, they'd survive and reach False Soul.

The three elders from Dark Society are all at peak Golden Core yet they couldn't feel the presence of Heavenly Tribulation. In the beginning Yang Tian didn't pay any attention to it but after hearing Ye Wen Tian talked, he was a bit intrigued.

- Could it be that the laws of this world are different from the Cultivation World? Then let me go take a look.

As he said that, Yang Tian vanished. Within the vast expanse of the void, Yang Tian stood silently, peering towards Earth. After examining it for a moment, he pointed into the nothingness. The dimension was shaken by this finger. Invisible waves permeated into the void before being stopped by something. Yang Tian smiled:

- Right here.

From the palm of his hand, a wave of light shot towards that point in space. The light wave was blocked and rays of light exploded into different directions. A large gate appeared out of the void. Yang Tian had his hands behind his back and looked at the door. A booming voice radiated throughout the void:

- Gates of Law, I, Chaos True Immortal command that you open.

As he said that , a wave of black qi appeared within the void and assaulted the Gates of Law. Under the attack of the black qi, the Gates of Law offered no resistance and immediately swung open. Streams of ancient golden letters flew out from beyond the gate. These letters emanated an ancient feeling, as if they had existed for untold eons.

Yang Tian waved his hand and the scattered letters began to arranged into a sequence. After looking at the sentences formed before him, Yang Tian nodded:

- So that's how it was. There's a quirk within the heaven and earth qi that allowed ascension to Golden Core much easier than the Cultivation World. However because of this, a flaw was formed within the laws of this world and Heavenly Tribulation as well as Heaven Earth Baptism doesn't exist here. That would explain why no one was able to reach Nascent Soul.

As he was about to fix up the law a little bit, Yang Tian chuckled and shook his head:

- Nah, everything is fine as it is. If they all breakthrough to Nascent Soul and a war breaks out, wouldn't they destroy the entire world? Besides, whether or not they breakthrough to Nascent Soul have nothing to do with me.

Yang Tian disappeared from the void and then reappeared inside the room.

At a place far away, within the vast empty void, a sleeping woman suddenly opened her eyes:

- It can't be wrong, someone just used the Chaotic Force. Is it him?

- No matter, I must quickly find him. I can't let that guy find him first.

As she said that, the woman vanished into the void. If Yang Tian was here, he would definitely recognized her. She was the perfect woman that he had saw in his dream.
