Chapter 82 - Hostage Exchange

As the two leave the police station, Liu Li turned to Yang Tian angrily:

- What's your intention?

Yang Tian made an innocent face:

- I just want to treat you to a meal. I haven't done anything wrong.

- That night I only stopped you for speeding. There was nothing between us.

- You're overthinking it. I didn't say that we had anything between us.

 Liu Li was furious:

- But your way of speaking makes people misunderstood.

- That's none of my concern.

Liu Li felt that this was going nowhere and turned to leave. Yang Tian followed behind her. After a while she turned and said angrily:

- Don't follow me, I'm not going out with you.

- You're going back on your words?

- Yeah, so what are you going to do about it?

Yang Tian rubbed his head, why did every women he meet have to be so difficult.

- Forget it. I suddenly remembered something that I need to do at the police station so you can go wherever you want.

As he said that, he turned to leave but Liu Li pulled him back:

- Are you threatening me?

- When did I threaten you?

- So you don't want to go back there and run your mouth off? I'm warning you, I already have someone I'm interested in so you shouldn't bother me anymore.

Yang Tian sighed, he had very little experience with breaking pots to steal flowers so he didn't know what to do. It seemed that he had to retreat for today.

Yang Tian was about to leave before a sound caught his attention. 3,4 police cars raced out of the police station. Liu Li also stopped paying attention to him and ran back to the station. It seemed an important case was going on.

After thinking for a bit, Yang Tian decided to go take a look. After all his date with Ling Ya Qi was in the evening. He followed the police cars to an abandoned house and saw a group of people with guns standing in front of the house. Inside the house were several people that were bound. Two people with guns were pointing their guns at the hostage.

Seeing the police arrive, the leader used a speaker phone and said:

- Have you brought our people here to do the exchange?

- Remain calm and don't hurt the hostage. Your people were imprisoned in another facility. We will bring them here shortly.

- Alright, I'll give you 30 minutes, then I'll start killing a hostage every 10 minutes if they don't get here in time.

- I'm advising you to...

The police officer didn't get to finish his sentence before a cacophony of gunfire responded to him. They all understood that the men didn't want to negotiate further. The police officers looked at each other in helplessness. The place was very barren so there was no cover for them to rush in and save the hostage.

After 20 minutes, several other police cars arrived. 4 police officers and 3 handcuffed men got out of the cars. Liu Li was amongst the officers that got out. Another police officer spoke through the loudspeaker:

- We have brought your people, come out so we can exchange the hostage.

The armed men complied and brought the hostages out.

- We will do a 1 to 1 exchange.

- Not a chance, you have 4 hostages but we only have 3 of your men.

The leader of the group sneered in disdain:

- Do you think I'm stupid? If we let all the hostages go, what will keep you from storming in and arresting us?

- You...

- Enough talk. We will keep a hostage and when we get to safety we'll let that person go.

- Not a chance. What if you don't release the hostage?

- We have the upper hand in this negotiation. Whether you want to take the deal is up to you.

Yang Tian, who was observing from afar, clapped his hands. This leader seemed to be very verse in negotiations. He wasn't wrong, no matter their demands, the police can only accept it. They weren't afraid to kill people but the police didn't dare risk innocent lives.

At long last the police had to agree to the demand. As the exchange finished and the kidnappers about to leave, a policeman stepped forth.

- I want to take the place of that hostage.

- You think that we are idiots? Holding a regular person hostage is far safer than hold a trained police officer.

The policeman was silent, he did want to the place of the hostage so he could look for openings and arrest the men. Liu Li saw that and came forward:

- What about me? All you big strong guys over there, are you really afraid of a woman like me?

The kidnappers looked at Liu Li and one of them whispered in the ear of the leader:

- Boss, let's agree to it. She's only a woman, so what if she's trained. Besides, we never intended to release the hostage anyways and she's such a beauty...

The leader heard this and nodded:

- Good, we'll agree to it. But first you must cuff your own hands then come over here.

The exchange went very smoothly and the kidnappers didn't waste any more time and left on their cars. They were also afraid of unexpected mishaps. The police saw the men leaving and immediately radioed for back up. Yang Tian also shook his head as he watched the scene from afar:

- Why do I get the feeling that I'm watching an action movie. Are they stupid? Why did they agree to the exchange? Did they think that she alone can capture all the kidnappers?

- Not only that, are they so naive that they would think the kidnappers would release the hostage? I don't even know how these people graduated from the police academy.

Yang Tian heard the kidnappers clearly and knew that they didn't intend on releasing the hostage. If it was under normal circumstances, Yang Tian wouldn't even care about it but they had Liu Li. He sighed:

- Seems like your luck is truly shitty. You dared laid your hands on a woman that I'm chasing.

The men quickly drove to a forest and strip the outer paint coat of the van, changed the car plates and replaced some parts of the car. They all look like completely different cars whether it be colors or designs. When the kidnappers were about to leave, Yang Tian slowly approached them and said cheerfully:

- Woah, you guys are really good at redecorating cars. Wow, are those prop guns? You are shooting a movie? Can I get a supporting role, no a mob role would be fine. I really want to be in a movie.

Liu Li saw Yang Tian and was immediately panicked. She tried to gesture him to leave. Yang Tian pretended not to see her and came closer. The leader also had a cheerful demeanor:

- That's right, take a look at the gun, don't they look realistic?

Without waiting for Yang Tian to grab the gun, the leader immediately shot at him. Seeing Yang Tian fell down after a hail of bullets, Liu Li closed her eyes and turned away. The leader approached and sat down next to Yang Tian's body and laughed:

- You think we are stupid? A stranger showing up in the middle of the forest and approached us unafraid even though we had guns. I don't know whether you are stupid or looking down on us?

- Is that so?

Hearing the sentence, the leader stopped his laughter and turned around:

- Who said that?

- Boss, it wasn't me.

- Boss, it's also not me.

- It's me.

Yang Tian stood up and dusted off his clothing. He looked at the leader mockingly:

- You are asking the the same thing over and over again so I'll tell you the answer. You are really stupid. Your biggest stupidity was that you took her. Because of that, none of you will be leaving here alive.

The leader was frightened and jumped back. All of his men were pointing their guns at Yang Tian:

- How are you not dead. Are you wearing a bulletproof vest? That can't be, I just you in the head just now.

Yang Tian shook his head:

- You talk too much.

As he said that, Yang Tian disappeared. One by one the kidnappers let out a shriek and then fell to ground. The guy that was watching over Liu Li was frighten and pointed his gun at her and screamed out:

- Stop or else I'll blow her head open.

- You can try.

Yang Tian immediately appeared next to Liu Li and crushed the gun with his bare hand. He smiled at her:

- How's that? Am I not awesome?
