Chapter 60 - Invitation

Yang Tian gritted his teeth and returned to his seat. He was muttering inside: "What about the Heavens, didn't the Heavenly Emperor that's in charge of the Heavenly Tribulation got a beating from me that year?".

- So what is it that you want?

Wang Yun looked at Yang Tian's "dead pig not afraid of boiling water" expression and chuckled:

- I just wanted to ask you here to say thank you for saving my life. You don't need to make that kind of face.

Yang Tian was surprised, he thought of many scenarios but this was out of his expectation. He still looked at Wang Yun suspiciously:

- Was it just that?

- What did you expect? Did you think that I called you here to take responsibility?

If it was just responsibility then Yang Tian could wish for nothing else but he was afraid of other things. Not waiting for Yang Tian's response, Wang Yun continued:

- I feel that you don't want to be here. I've said my thanks, you can leave.

- Was that truly all?

Seeing Wang Yun glaring at him, Yang Tian immediately retreated outside. He hadn't come up with a plan to solve this yet so it's best that he left it alone and try to come up with something later.

Old Wang was sitting and drinking tea outside when Yang Tian came out. He asked:

- Why did Yun-er want to see you.

- She just called me hear to give her thanks.

- Was that all?

- That was all, I have some pressing matters to tend to. See you later.

Yang Tian said his goodbye and rushed outside, making Old Wang quite surprised. He muttered:

- What's the rush, I still had stuff to ask him.

He came inside the room and upon seeing Wang Yun staring at the flower pot in front of her, asked:

- Yun-er, you're not intending on keeping him?

They say that no one knows a child better than their parent but in this case, no one knew Wang Yun better than Old Wang. He had witnessed her growing up so how could he not know what she was thinking.

Wang Yun knew that she couldn't hide from Old Wang and sighed:

- He saw me and all he wanted to do was to escape so how could I keep him? Not only that, he only did what he did to save my life. It's not his fault so I can't really make him take any responsibilities.

Old Wang sighed, he knows this granddaughter of his would act fine but inside she was very conflicted. The Wang Clan was also an old and ancient clan and its descendant was taught to be very traditional. Wang Yun was a traditional woman that adheres to ancient values so she valued purity above all else. Yang Tian being her first man was something that weighed heavily on her mind.

She invited him here today so see his stance on this but it seemed that Yang Tian didn't want to hold any responsibilities toward her. Since Yang Tian had save her life, Wang Yun wouldn't hold this against him.

If Yang Tian knew of this then he would sure regret his attitude immensely. A beauty that wanted him to take responsibilities, he couldn't ask for anything better so how could he deny her. It looks like the road to his first woman would still be very arduous for Yang Tian.

Yang Tian checked the time and saw that it was 9am so he'd be late for school anyways. He had to visit Mu Wu Han in the weekends so meeting her know wouldn't be unnecessary. While Yang Tian's mind was wandering, he got a call from Ye Wen Tian:

- Yang Tian, I'm at the Dark Society's base in Bei Jiang City, can you come here for a moment?

Ye Wen Tian was very formal which made Yang Tian felt strange but he agreed to it anyway:

- Alright, I'll be right there.

As Yang Tian saw it, Ye Wen Tian suddenly appeared here was highly unusual. He always said that he had hundreds if not thousands things to do, so how could he spare the time to come and chat with Yang Tian. But the man was still his future father-in-law so Yang Tian would give him face.

Yang Tian had been to this base a couple of time so he was quite familiar with it. Entering the base, beside Ye Wen Tian sitting in the middle, there was no one else. Yang Tian sat down opposite of Ye Wen Tian:

- You sent everyone off so it seemed that this is quite important.

Ye Wen Tian sipped some wine and looked at Yang Tian:

- My superiors wanted me to invite you to the headquarter as a guest.

Yang Tian was taken aback, Ye Wen Tian was an Elder of the Dark Society so for him to say superior, it meant either the 2 Vice President or the President himself. However, no matter who it was, Yang Tian wasn't too bothered.

- I have a lot of things to take care off. I have no time to meet with them.

Ye We Tian bulged his eyes, how could he not know what Yang Tian was busy doing all this time. To put it simply, he was going around chasing skirts.

- It's really important this, I've heard that someone was selling information about your background.

Yang Tian finally understood, it seemed that the Devil Sect took care of business nicely. If the Dark Society knew about it then Su Yue Er and company would probably learn of it soon. Ye Wen Tian saw that Yang Tian didn't say anything and continued:

- We paid a large price to buy this information off the Devil Sect. Of the great powers, we have best relationship with the Devil Sect since the other powers all shunned them.

- So you know of my background now?

Ye Wen Tian shook his head:

- That's all I know, the superior said that this was an S-rank information and I don't have the clearance to know.

Yang Tian chuckled, something he made up on the spot was ranked so high.

- Yang Tian, I think you should go and meet at least once. After all, your current identity is still that of a member of the Dark Society. Not only that, Ling-er is also there.

This time Ye Wen Tian had hit the nail on the head, the bait he gave out was an excellent. Yang TIan had always wanted to see Ye Ling again since it's been a long time and he missed her.

- Where is your headquarter? How long does it take to get there?

Ye Wen Tian saw that Yang Tian had relented and was joyful:

- The headquarter is on a man-made island in the western part of the Pacific Ocean. I have a state of the art jet waiting and the total travel time to and from wouldn't be more than 20 hours.

Yang Tian calculated a bit and since the trip wouldn't exceed 2 days, it was acceptable.

- Alright, I'll give Ye Ling some face and travel to your headquarter.

Ye Wen Tian let out a long sighed, the mission to invite Yang Tian was specially given by his superior and he was told that it must not fail. Not only that, he mustn't let Yang Tian be annoyed with the Dark Society. Yang Tian's identity was now making Ye Wen Tian very curious.

- Oh right, Ye Ling is a mortal, what would she be doing there?

- Ye Wen Tian's face changed, he let out a long sighed and he looked at the distance:

- It was my fault, I had wronged her.

- Does this have anything to do with why she couldn't cultivate?

Ye Wen Tian was surprised:

- How did you know?

Yang Tian shrugged:

- Just a guess, Ye Ling once told me that she could cultivate before. Now she was at the Dark Society's headquarter so that roused my suspicion.

- You're not wrong. Ye Ling could cultivate before. Not only that, her talent was extraordinary. If not for that incident, her cultivation now wouldn't lose out to the Heavenly Mountain Saintess or the Devil Sect Dark Lady.

Yang Tian immediately felt intrigued, he had examined her body and she indeed didn't have any spirit root and he couldn't felt any heaven and earth spirit qi. Could it be...

- Could it be that someone stole her spirit root?

Ye Wen Tian became even more sorrowful:

- That's right, it was my fault. Do you want to hear an old story?

Yang Tian nodded and looked at Ye Wen Tian. He really wanted to know. From this story, he can find some way to treat her. Of course he had another method for her to cultivate but that method is not very feasible right now.
