Chapter 115 - A Dead Patient

Without anymore dissent, the Hua Shi Yin's succession ceremony went on smoothly. Yang Tian felt that all of this was quite dry so he left everything to Chu Ci and went outside for some air. He found a cafe to sit down and after nearly 2 hours, Yang Tian got a call from Ye Wen Tian:

- Later you should watch the news at noon.

Ye Wen Tian only said that and then hung up. Yang Tian knew that the Qiao An Hai's business was taken care of. It was very quick so the Dark Society wasn't bad at handling business. He called Chu Ci:

- When does the ceremony end?

- I don't know. Underworld gangs have way too many annoying rituals. There's praying to the gods, take your oath of office,...

- Alright, prepare a large TV in there. Around noon, turn to news for everyone to see.

Although he didn't know why Yang Tian said that, Chu Ci didn't ask any questions:

- Understood.

Yang Tian continued to nurse his coffee and when the time came, he left for the conference room. His goal was to let those people remember that Hua Shi Yin was backed by him After all, there were many people there that seeming agreed to the arrangement but deep down they were very unsatisfied.

Stepping inside the conference room, he saw that everyone was focused in the television. Although they didn't know what for, since Chu Ci gave the order, they could only follow. After some opening segments, the main bulk of the news was broadcast.

Qiao An Hai was very irresponsible and drained government's funds on large investment projects. Accounts of his corruptions and misdeeds as well as his dealings with criminal organizations were all brought up to the screen. Hua Shi Yin and everyone else all stared wide eyes at the screen. For some reason, they knew that Qiao An Hai's fate was because of Yang Tian's words from before.

Luckily for Qiao An Hai that he was brought to hospital. If not he would have puked even more blood from the anger. The news segment ended and Chu Ci turned off the TV. Everyone turned to Yang Tian with fear and respect in their eyes. The underworld was very simple. As long as you have strength, you'll gain respect.

Yang Tian said solemnly:

- I'm sure that you are all clear on the reason for his current situation. I'll reiterate once more, Shi Yin is supported by me. Anyone dare go against her, don't blame me for being evil.

After he said that, Yang Tian left. His job here was done. Hua Shi Yin could clean up the rest. She looked at Yang Tian's disappearing figure and had slight infatuated expression. He did it all for her. This was someone she could rely on her entire life. Chu Ci had already gotten the orders from Yang Tian. From now on his mission was too safeguard Hua Shi Yin, so he didn't leave.

For the next couple of days, the transition of power took place. Under the Yang Tian's blatant threats, everything went quite smoothly. Qiao An Hai was arrested in the hospital. Any assets of his that had signs of being illegal was confiscated. This guy committed a lot of crimes so it could be seen as helping the people.

Hua Shi Yin was very busy these days. Even Yang Tian himself had very few chances of seeing her. Because of this, he decided to return to Bei Jiang City. With Chu Ci there, he wasn't worried that she would be in danger.

Coming back to school, Yang Tian didn't forget about Li Pan. If Yang Tian had one flaw, it's that he held a grudge. Yang Tian himself didn't that this was a flaw. To him, getting even was a very natural thing. To avoid misunderstanding like last time, Yang Tian gave Li Pan a chance to explain himself. After hearing Yang Tian's story, Li Pan frowned:

- That's a bit weird, let me think for a moment.

- Good. You better give me a good answer. If not I won't mind making a trip to the Li Clan...

Yang Tian let that sentence hang and Li Pan panicked:

- Yang Tian, what do you want to do. I'm warning you, you can't...

- Alright, then give me a suitable explanation.

Yang Tian smacked his head:

- From what I've seen, you have little success but plenty of failures. If not for the fact that you grew up with Xiao Wu, you wouldn't even half a chance.

Li Pan grinned:

- Your "if" doesn't have a leg to stand on. Reality has proven that I've succeed. That's enough.

Seeing Li Pan's smug face, Yang Tian wanted to give him several punches. Too bad he was right. The victor rights the law so Yang Tian could only be silent. Qin Xue wasn't in class today and according to Yang Tian, this subject was a bit dry. Most of the students only showed up for half the class to fill in the attendance sheet.

At the end of the class, Yang Tian got to the entrance before running into Yao Nan who was waiting there. Li Pan tapped Yang Tian's shoulder:

- I'm going ahead.

Yang Tian didn't stop him and frowned at Yao Nan. Every time this guy showed up, it had brought nothing but trouble. If not for Yao Ling, Yang Tian would dread getting in contact with him.

- What is it now? Are you going to ask me to cure another one of your patient? If that's the case then I decline.

Yang Tian lightly coughed, it seemed that him constantly asking Yang Tian for help had left a bad impression.

- Nothing like that, I'm here to tell you something.

- What is it?

- Can we find some place to sit and talk?

Seeing Yao Nan's serious face, Yang Tian nodded in assent:

- Alright, let's go the cafe across the street.

After the two ordered some drinks, Yao Nan said with a serious face:

- Yang Tian, the patient you treated last time has passed away.

After downing his drink, Yang Tian finally looked at Yao Nan:

- Have you ever heard of Gu poison?

- Gu poison, it seems to be a type of poisonous insects used by some tribes people. There were records of it in medical books that I've read but there isn't that much information on it.

- It's not a type of poison, Gu poison is the common name of many types of poison. They are insects that was specifically bred to have specific characteristics. They could be used to poison someone or augment your own body.

- That miraculous?

Yao Nan was very surprised, stuff like this was very new to him. Yang Tian continued to explain:

- People who utilize Gu poison are called Venomancer. The Gu poison was raised by them since birth and developed a connection with them. You could think of it like a parent and child relationship.

For Yao Nan, the concept of soul was a foreign one so Yang Tian could only explain it to him in simple terms like that.

- Wait, what does this have to do with that patient. Unless...

As if he thought of something, Yao Nan frightfully looked at Yang Tian. He nodded:

- You are right on the money, that guy was poisoned by Gu. Although I've neutralized all the poison, as that happened, the Venomancer would immediately felt it. According to the laws of Venom clans, if someone was poison by them then that person must die. Sure enough, the culprit once again tracked down the patient and killed him.

Yao Nan stuttered:

- So you are saying that you knew that the Venomancer was coming all along? Why didn't you tell us?

- What would that have accomplished? Could any of you have stopped him?
