Yang Tian slept for a bit and heard a knock outside:
- Yang Tian, we are here.
Yang Tian stood up to open the door and saw Ye Wen Tian with 2 strangers standing before him.
- They are members of our Dark Society and they are in charge of interrogation. I brought them here to interrogate the assassin.
Yang Tian shook his head:
- There's no need to interrogate her. I've already asked her, she doesn't know anything. Just prepare a room for her.
Ye Wen Tian couldn't say anything before another person said:
- That won't do, attempting to assassinate an Elder is a serious crime, how could we let her slide that easy? Not only what could you do to interrogate her. Let her taste our Dark Society's technique, I don't believe that she won't talk.
- I said it's not necessary or did you not hear me clearly?
As Yang Tian said that, he let loose a suffocating presence. Aside from from Ye Wen Tian, the other two people's body shook and they were down on their knees. Ye Wen Tian saw that and stopped him:
- I understand, I'll let someone take care of her room.
- Good. Let's go see Ling-er.
Ye Wen Tian nodded, he knew that Yang Tian's main purpose here was to see Ye Ling. If he stopped him from seeing her, Yang Tian might not agree to meet with his superior. As followed Yang Tian out, Ye Wen Tian telepathically said to the other two:
- Prepare a good room for her. Don't speak to her. If not you can't handle to consequences.
The two looked at each other and had weird looks in their eyes. Who exactly was that young man that even the Elder was following his orders. Even the successor to the four great powers wouldn't have that kind of influence.
Yang Tian followed Ye Wen Tian inside and was introduced to the place:
- This is an artificial island with a large area. It's equipped the most advance defense system that the current technology have to offer. This is the central area, there are other areas such as a forest area, residence area, etc... It's no different than a small country. Not all people here are Cultivators. We have renowned scientists, doctors,...
- You must have felt that the heaven and earth spiritual qi here is much denser than the outside. This is because we got a hold of a spirit vein from the Shrouded Continent and a Spirit Gathering Array. Most of the important people in the Dark Society stay here to cultivate.
- Ling-er is over there, you can go and meet her there. Call me when you are done. This is a special phone that can only be used here, my number is already in there.
After giving Yang Tian a weird looking phone, Ye Wen Tian turned and left. Yang Tian examined the phone and took out his own. There was indeed no signal here.
- Seems like they are very careful. This must be the final base used to resist the Shrouded Continent.
Yang Tian walked towards where Ye Wen Tian pointed and soon arrived at a mansion. This place had very good security and as he walked in, a machine like sound rang out. Ye Ling came out of the house and upon seeing Yang Tian, rushed to him with joy:
- Why are you here?
Of course Yang Tian wouldn't tell her the truth:
- I missed you so I asked Uncle Ye Wen Tian to bring me here to see you.
Ye Ling knew that Yang Tian was bullshitting but she didn't mind it. Yang Tian must be here on important business.
- Hurry inside.
Entering the house, he noticed that it was decorated very simply. It was made to make people feel comfortable and relaxed. It was like a retirement home. Yang Tian sat down:
- How long have you been here.
- It's been about a week since I got here.
Yang Tian was surprised, the security here was very strict so how could still went online and chatted with him?
- This place and the outside world is completely isolated, how could you still play video games?
Ye Ling smiled:
- Who told you that this place have no contact with the outside. My father is and Elder so I have special privilege. If not won't I be bored to death here? However all information going in or out is strictly monitored, any suspicious signal are immediately blocked.
Yang Tian nodded, he originally thought that he had accidentally wandered into an exclusion zone, now it didn't seem to bad.
The two continued to chat merrily. However Ye Ling never mentioned why she came here and he didn't ask. He had a solution to her problem so there was no rush.
Seeing that it was already 6pm, he didn't have much time. Yang Tian stood up:
- I have some stuff to tend to and I'll find you later to play games. I wonder if you'll let me stay the night?
Ye Ling heard that and blushed. She shyly nodded:
- Not a problem, the mansion is huge so you can choose any room you like.
Yang Tian thought: "It seemed that she trust me very much".
Stepping out of the mansion, Yang Tian called Ye Wen Tian:
- I'm done, I'll meet the other people now.
- Here I though you'd forgotten. I'll send someone to pick you up immediately.
Ye Wen Tian hung up and walked out. He was dialing his phone as he was walking, an ancient voice came from the other line:
- He has come?
- That's right, I'll bring him to see you all now.
- You've done well.
The other side immediately hung up. Ye Wen Tian shook his head, the other person had always been brief with his words. The fact that he gave a praise today was a rarity.
Ye Wen Tian escorted Yang Tian far from central area an into a mountain range. Yang Tian felt that the heaven and earth qi here was far denser than the outside. Going deeper and deeper into the mountain, Yang Tian saw that there were many caves, each with a defensive formation outside.
Ye Wen Tian signaled Yang Tian to follow him and flew towards the top of the mountain. The two landed on the top. The surrounding was completely barren and there were 3 old men sitting and cultivating. Hearing a disturbance, the three simultaneously opened their eyes. The elder in the middle signaled Ye Wen Tian to leave and said:
- This brother must be Yang Tian.
Yang Tian found a place to sit down and nodded:
- That's right. Why did you invite me here?
The elder didn't say anything and threw a crystal at Yang Tian. He used his spiritual sense to read the content inside, it information about him.
The elder looked at Yang Tian and said:
- This was the information that we bought from the Devil Sect, I wonder if brother Yang knew about this?
- I intentionally let them know this.
The three was surprised:
- Why?
- Didn't my appearance made a lot of people investigate my background? This wasn't much of a secret either way.
The three looked at each other and was silent. What's not a secret, do you know how much we had to pay to get this? Do you know what kind of a stir it caused?
The elder in the middle lightly coughed:
- So you truly are the guardian of the Shrouded Continent.
Yang Tian shook his head:
- That was my clan from before. Now I just want a normal life, the guardianship is no longer my problem.
- Why hadn't we heard anything about you guys for the past thousand years?
Yang Tian looked at them with disdain:
- All these thousands year, what could've you have done to threaten the Shrouded Continent?
The three's face changed. Yang Tian wasn't wrong. The Dark Society's strength wasn't far behind the four great powers but that was only one on one. If the four united then they were no where close. Even one on one they were no match for the Heavenly Sacred Peak. There's a rumor that there's still Nascent Soul Grand Elder defending the place.
The elder in the middle looked to his compatriots and the the two nodded. They then looked at Yang Tian:
- We have something we want to ask your help with.
