Chapter 64 - Active Offering

Turning off his phone, the person immediately contact the president of the publishing company.

- What is it?

- President, I have something urgent I need to talk to you about the new set that's going to be auctioned.

- Alright, out with it. I have a meeting to get to.

- I just got a call from one of players wanting to buy it. My guess it's in preparation for the upcoming Pantheon event.

The president huffed coldly:

- This is your urgent matter? Don't waste my time like that.

- That's not all, the person said that he's too busy and doesn't want to participate in the auction. He directly offered 10 million USD for it. If we agree then we can contact him within today.

- Just 10 million... What did you say? 10 million USD?

- That's right, this was his price. According to our estimation, the set could sell for 30 thousand to 50 thousand USD. 10 million is an astronomical figure for it. I think we should accept the offer. But then there's the issue of the other players participating in the auction...

The president was deep in thought, 10 million USD was a large number but compared to the company's reputation it was nothing. He suddenly thought of something:

- This isn't hard, we just have to announce that this auction will be a hidden auction. Everyone would name their price once and we'll announce the winning bid to be 10 million USD. You can tell the person that we accept this transaction but we can only give him the equipment couple of days later.

- But he said he wanted the set quickly. Not only that, he wanted something to replace his 3rd rank wings.

- Alright, we'll begin patching in the 4th rank for all server. I want the update to role out ahead of the scheduled. We'll start the auction tomorrow from 20:00 to 23:00. We'll give the set to him the next day. About the special 4th rank item, we'll been getting a lot of request and response on that an we are working on it. It should be done by tomorrow.

- Then I'll call him immediately.

The man hung up then immediately called Yang Tian. He was giddy since he would get a 50 thousand USD commission out of this. This was more than his annual salary.

- The main headquarter has agreed, but since we already had an agreement with the other players on the auction, we can only give you the set the day after. Furthermore we will roll out the 4th rank update tonight.

- Good, we'll do the usual, I'll transfer you the 5 million USD first.

Yang Tian hung up, foreign transactions cannot be done by a domestic account since the government controlled foreign currency very tightly. Using one of his Swiss bank accounts, he wired the 5 million. After a moment, the other person called him to confirm the transaction.

Yang Tian saw that it was getting late so he stood up and grab his luggage to go meet Ye Wen Tian. Just as he left his room, he bumped into Liao Mei. Wasn't she in closed door cultivation with Su Yue Er?

Liao Mei saw Yang Tian's luggage and asked:

- Where are you going?

- I have some business abroad. I'll only be gone for 2-3 days and will be quickly be back.

Liao Mei nodded and didn't pursue further. She instead looked at him:

- I just received the information about your background. It was truly astounding.

Yang Tian wasn't surprised. This was information was first in the hands of the Devil Sect. If the Dark Society already knew then it would be more strange if Liao Mei didn't know. Yang Tian didn't say anything as he waited for her to continue:

- The guardian of the Shrouded Continent. A power that had existed for millennias yet left no traces, such strength leaves one breathless. If you have gained all the inheritance of your clan then your cultivation surely didn't stop at Golden Core.

- Why would a great Nascent Soul Cultivator appear in the mortal world? You're appearance gave us the suspicion that you've been bought by the Dark Society. Have you turned your back on the Shrouded Continent? The fact that you are now a member of the Dark Society is suspicious indeed.

Yang Tian laughed:

- You guys are thinking too much. I told you, I just want to enjoy life. Becoming a member of the Dark Society is just a coincidence.

- Really?

Seeing her look, Yang Tian knew that she didn't completely trust him. He also didn't care to explain himself, she'll know soon enough.

- If there's nothing else, I'll go on ahead. It's time for my flight.

Liao Mei gritted her teeth and after a moment of hesitation, said:

- The Sect leader had issued his command. I must retrieve the Blood Devil Sword from you at all cost.

Yang Tian looked at her:

- You want to make a move on me?

- Am I even qualified as your opponent?

Shaking his head, Yang Tian turned and leave. Liao Mei immediately called to him:

- Wait.

- What is it now?

- I want to offer myself in exchange for the Blood Devil Sword.

- What?

Now it was Yang Tian's turn to be surprised. He would have never thought in a million years that the Devil Sect's Leader would use this tactic. Liao Mei would never offer herself willingly so it must through coercion.

Liao Mei felt very bitter since the Sect Leader was her father. He hadn't paid too much attention to her since she was little but he had always provided for her. She only reached her cultivation today thanks to the massive amount to resources he had given her. She could've never thought that because of a Devil Sect Supreme treasure, he would risk everything and tell her to expend all cost. This meant offering herself up.

The Devil Sect was heartless, Liao Mei fully understood this after today. But she couldn't resist, all members of the Devil Sect had a small part of their soul sealed with the Sect Leader. If anyone rebelled they would die without the chance at reincarnation. They would not even be allowed to die and be tortured until they wished for death. A soul wound was hundreds of thousands time far more devastating than a physical one.

Yang Tian looked at her closely:

- Are you sure?

- I'm sure, as long as you agree, I'll be your woman.

Yang Tian shook his head, he loved beauties, that much was true but he would never use them as object for trading. He cherished every single one of his women. He moved his hand forward and the Blood Devil Sword appeared in his hand:

- There's no need, I've never been in the business of forcing someone, especially beauties. If you need it so much then I'll give it to you. However it has bonded to me and see me as its master so you can't use it either way.

Liao Mei received the Blood Devil Sword and gave Yang Tian an astonished look:

- You really don't need anything?

- How could that be. After all, this artifact is not bad so how could I just give it away?

Liao Mei's mood plummeted, it  seemed that all men are no good.

- You must at least let me see your face. That's a fair price, right?

- Was that all?

 
Yang Tian nodded in confirmation. Liao Mei gritted her teeth:

- I hope you won't regret this.

As she said that, Liao Mei removed her mask. The part of her face that was obscured by the mask was revealed, it was a clump of darkness. Yang Tian couldn't help but frowned:

Liao Mei smiled bitterly:

- Are you that disappointed?

- I...

Yang Tian hadn't manage to finish his sentence before Liao Mei disappeared. It seemed that she wanted to return the Blood Devil Sword to the Devil Sect.

Yang Tian looked at the disappearing figure and sighed. He frowned not because of her horrifying visage. She was truly beautiful and although she was lacking a bit in comparison to Su Yue Er, she was still a great beauty and wasn't far behind Qin Xue. It's just that he couldn't think of anyone that would be so evil as to seal such a large amount of devilish qi inside half of her body. If Yang Tian was right, the other half of her body had already been taken over by the devilish qi.

With so much devilish qi, Liao Mei must have suffered tremendous pain. Yang Tian planned to get rid of all the devilish qi inside her when they meet again. But that was just his one sided thinking because the next time they met, things would be completely different.
