Chapter 35 - The Future Fiance

Yang Tian had previously thought the main goal of the Resource Competition was for the resources but it seemed things were not so simple

- So what is the Resource Competition? It seems important.

Su Yue Er said gravely:

- Of course it is. This is the event that every power got involved in. We would bet important treasure and even Dharmic technique and mantras. The prizes would be split evenly amongst the top 3 winners. The Dark Society has always fail when they participate and only ranked amongst the lesser powers.

- I've heard that they have even put a country up as a reward this time.

Yang Tian couldn't help but be surprised. Even this could be a reward?

Su Yue Er continued:

- The Dark Society has failed too many times and their valuables are dwindling. Not only that, they control over 100 countries so they'd be fine even they give up one.

- Do you know of the legend surrounding the Shrouded Continent?

How could Yang Tian not know. It was of that event that he set foot on the path of cultivation. But he feigned ignorance:

- You mean the legend that the Shrouded Continent was cleaved off the Cultivation World by a supreme cultivator?

- That's the one. The legend is completely true. That supreme cultivator brought the Shrouded Continent into this world more than 1000 years ago. At that time, the humans on this planet were still weak and haven't possessed the technology they do now.

- A few smaller powers had taken advantage of this fact and took control of Earth, separating from the Shrouded Continent and eventually formed the Dark Society. The higher ups of the Shrouded Continent wasn't bother by this at first, but as the Dark Society grew, they couldn't just stand by. However it was too late as the Dark Society had already controlled half of the mortal world by then.

- The continental higher ups took control of the other half. An equilibrium was born and an agreement was reached - Cultivators cannot reveal their existence to normal people. However people of high enough stature would came to know of our existence anyways.

- The Dark Society continually looked for people with talent to oppose the Shrouded Continent. After a thousand year, most of its members are Earthling. So saying that it was power built by Earthling is technically true but the reality is that it has its roots in the Shrouded Continent.

Yang Tian was surprised that even the Dark Society originated from the Shrouded Continent. But it made perfect sense when one thought about it a little.

- I didn't know that, it seems that the Dark Society is underpaying me for this endeavor.

- Haizz, if you participate then they'll surely be first. I'll let you know that one of the four great powers - the Nan Gong Clan is offering marriage as a prize. Their patriarch is offering his daughter to the first place winner of the competition.

Yang Tian was truly surprised now:

- They can even make this into a prize?

- Why can't they? It's a good deal for both sides. The winner can receive a lot of cultivation resources from the Nan Gong Clan and in turn they get a genius as a groom. Of course the groom would have to be accompanied by a lot of the winnings from the competition.

- What if the person that won was a woman?

- So the person in second gets the marriage, their goal was to lure in geniuses after all. I don't mind telling you this: Although the Nan Gong Clan is one of the four great powers, their power is far below that of the other 3. Their genius disciple has only reached the False Core realm and he is already close to 30 years old.

- If no genius appears in their family in the next 10 years, they might slip from their position and sustain massive loss. But those people are smart and wouldn't just wait around for one to magically pop up. So they came up with this plan to lure one in.

Yang Tian nodded, when push come to shove, the Nan Gong's decision was the correct one. However there was a singular truth, if he attended then he'll definitely be the top. So he had to make sure:

- I have something to ask, is the young miss of the Nan Gong Clan a beauty? If she is then I'm willing to be at a disadvantage.

Su Yue Er was incensed. This guy was truly a womanizer and she was also a beauty right in front of him yet he never paid her any attention. She didn't answer him and pouted. Liao Mei who was silent the whole time said:

- The Nan Gong young miss is called Nan Gong Bing Yun and she's a great Betty. However she was born fragile and never left the Nan Gong residence so very few people knew her face.

- So how do you know?

Liao Mei didn't answer so Yang Tian didn't ask anymore. If the Nan Gong young miss was a beauty then marrying was a good thing. He can build a loving relationship with her later. Looking at the two:

- I also have something else to tell you guys.

Yang Tian took out 2 crystal and gave it to them:

- Your basic mantra is not bad and fits your cultivation so that doesn't need to change. So I've pick out some Dharmic technique that's appropriate for you.

- Liao Mei, this is the mantra to control the Eight Devil Disk, when you reach the final stage, you can temporary absorb the 8 devil and enhance your strength. Not only that when you find a stronger soul you can replace the existing one.

- Yue Er, since you cultivate the sword, you might as well become a sword cultivator and discard any other Dharmic arts. This is the Hundred Sword Art, when cultivating it to the apex, you can generate the Hundred Sword Force with terrifying might.

Using their spiritual senses to enter the crystal, the two were rattled. These Dharmic techniques were far too powerful. Even the ones at the Devil Sect and Heavenly Mountain Sacred Peak paled in comparison. Where on earth did Yang Tian get these from?

Yang Tian predicted their reaction and took on a shameless face:

- Are you moved? If you want to repay me with your body, I'll bite my teeth and accept my fate.

The two women yelled:

- Shameless.

After that they immediately retreated to their rooms to cultivate. After reading the contents of the crystal, they couldn't wait to cultivate.

They originally wanted to leave when Yang Tian said he was participating in the Resource Competition. After all, it was held at the Shrouded Continent so Yang Tian would have to go their sooner than later. Then someone else can take care of him and they needn't bother.

Now that they have gained the Dharmic technique from Yang Tian, they decided to stay. The only thing on their mind was to cultivate these techniques. Not only that, since Yang Tian had casually gave them these precious techniques, there were bound to be more good stuff and they weren't about to miss out on that.

In reality this was Yang Tian's plan all along to keep them here. After all Dharmic technique were far to important for Cultivators. With a strong technique, it wasn't impossible to challenge someone of higher cultivation.

He would come to regret this decision however. In the following month, the two women set up their formations and was continuously in closed door cultivation. He couldn't have predicted this else they would have to kill him before he hand over those techniques. After all, what use of keeping them here if they were just going to lock themselves in their room for a month.

Yang Tian saw that they had returned to their room and head upstairs himself. He hadn't been online for his mission yesterday and so he would need to log in to go PK¹ with Ye Ling to relieve his stress.
