Chapter 33 - Meeting the Members

Yang Tian didn't take any of it to heart. He had to go to the Dark Society's base in Bei Jiang province per Ye Wen Tian's request. According to him, Yang Tian was here to socialize with the other members but he felt that it wasn't so simple. However, since he had already received some benefits, he should also help the man out.

Yang Tian drove to address provided and was rubbing eyes to see if he was wrong. According to the address, the place bas was a small house in a middle of a large field. Yang Tian calculated that if there were more than 10 people in the house they would have to sleep standing.

After parking in an empty field, Yang Tian approached the house and knocked. A young man opened the door:

- Who are you?

Yang Tian didn't beat around the bush and directly mentioned Ye Wen Tian. The young man smiled:

- So it's you, come in.

Yang Tian followed the youth inside and saw that the house was completely empty. Yang Tian frowned as Ye Wen Tian mentioned that there were at least 5 people stationed here. So there must be a basement.

The reality proved Yang Tian's deduction. The young man approached the wall and knocked in a sequence. A door then appeared on the ground and Yang Tian smiled:

- You guys are very cautious.

- Let's go down, we have thrown a welcoming party for you.

Following the youth, they stopped in front of a large gate. The young man approached and used his eye to open the it. Behind the gate was a large room with a lot of modern equipment. In the center was a set of tables and chairs that looked luxurious. There were 4 people sitting the chairs and when Yang Tian saw that they were all men, he was disappointed.

The two came in and sat down. One of the person that was there said:

- We are gathering here today to familiarized ourselves with each other. This is so that we won't be in conflict next time we are out on a mission.

The people around him nodded and he continued:

- First, let's give an introduction on our name and ranks. I am Su Li¹, a Middle-grade member.

- I am Yun Hai, an Elementary-grade member,...

...

The other people were all Elementary-grade member. Yang Tian also introduced himself:

- I am Yang Tian, a Core member.

Yang Tian's word were nothing short of a bombshell. The other people were scared stiff and a person stuttered:

- What did you say? A Core member?

Yang Tian was surprised, being a Core member was that big of a deal?

- That's right, is there something wrong?

- Of course there's something wrong. We have joined for 2-3 years and are only Elementary-grade member. Su Li had been a member for a long time - more than 10 years, and he is only a Middle-grade member. You've just joined and are already a Core member.

Another person added:

- You must know that Core member can take a promotion mission at any time and if they succeed, they can become an elder. An elder, that's the same as a president of a country.

- Even if you failed the mission, being Core member is the same as a Colonel General and they can even mobilize the army. Even elders can't just assign mission to you without your consent.

- To become a Core member one must go through countless promotion mission and your cultivation must be at least mid Foundation Establishment.

Yang Tian wasn't too surprised, the rank provided fit his demands very well. He lightly coughed:

- It's fine. This was Ye Wen Tian's decision. If you have a problem, take it up with him.

The other 5 people's eyes went wide. Ye Wen Tian was the big boss and his position was far removed from them. They can't even meet with him if they wanted to. Su Li then questioned:

- It looks like your cultivation is very high, if not you wouldn't be Core member upon joining.

Yang Tian smiled, this person was very smart and understood the situation in minutes. The other four were curious, they were all early Qi Refining disciple with Su Li being a bit better off - a mid Qi Refining disciple. They wondered what cultivation Yang Tian had achieved.

- My cultivation is not too bad. I was nominated to participate in the Resource Competition so there were special accommodation made.

The other 5 inhaled deeply. Who didn't know about the Resource Competition, it was the goal of many members in the Dark Society. As long as you are under 30 years and was in the top 5 of the Dark Society's younger generation, you can participate.

The Dark Society controls more than 100 countries worldwide and each competitions were fierce. Yang Tian was directly nominated and although it wasn't official, his cultivation must be frightening. 

The 5 people had looks of respect towards Yang Tian:

- Boss Yang, if you need anything just call us. We won't ever refuse you.

Yang Tian smiled:

- No need to call me boss, just treat me equally and we will be fine.

The five shook their heads:

 - According to our ranks we would have to address you as chief but since you are even younger than us, calling you boss would be more appropriate.

Yang Tian wasn't about to argue with them so he let them do as they pleased. After chatting a bit, they brought out a lot of food from the fridge and started a hot pot to celebrate. They all toasted:

- To boss Yang for joining the Dark Society. Here's to hoping he becomes an Elder soon.

Yang Tian didn't have any plan to become an Elder, the job was tasteless to him. However he still toasted. The other people cheered. As the party went on, Yang Tian asked:

- This place has a lot of high tech equipment, you all know how to use it?

They denied:

- We are only focused on doing missions and advancing our cultivation. When do we have time to learn how to use those stuff. This place usually have associates coming to work.

- Associates?

- They are people who can't cultivate but was recruited for their special skills. If they have enough contribution points, they can become regular members. After all, modern technology is advancing rapidly and their aid have been invaluable.

Yang Tian nodded. The Dark Society had the right ideas to exploit the advantage of this world. After some more chatting, the other people were drunk and passed out. Yang Tian was still nursing his drink and looking melancholic. This is what people would call doing nothing is doing.

After being far from the cutthroat Cultivation World, Yang Tian was starting to missed it. It was a funny feeling, he sacrificed everything to get to the Cultivation World because of his vengeance. When he was there, he constantly wanted to return here. Now that he was back here, he missed that place and thought even though it was hard in the Cultivation World, it wasn't too bad.

Yang Tian resolved to find a couple of wives and bring them all over the Cultivation World to travel. He shook his head and smiled, drinking alcohol made one thought of strange things. He cleared himself of these thoughts and took a nap.

He woke up around 8pm and the other people were still sound asleep. Yang Tian muttered:

- Their awareness is too lacking. What if someone stormed in?

Think of Su Yue Er and Liao Mei making dinner at home, Yang Tian woke Su Li up to open the door. Su Li saw Yang Tian out and said:

- Boss Yang, drop by when you are free, we usually gathered here when we don't have mission.

Yang Tian nodded and left. When turned on his phone, he saw 47 missed calls from Su Yue Er and massaged his temple.

- I'm just a bit late, no need to long for me that much.

Yang Tian couldn't help himself and groaned.
